Agreement Policy of the Federation of the Finnish Media IndustriesCompetitive welfare society

Important matters for the member companies of the Federation of the Finnish Media Industries

Ensuring industrial peace

Advisory services, training, inter-federation negotiations and the obligation of absolute industrial peace with a penalty fine prevent conflicts and support efficient handling of personnel issues and maintenance of a calm atmosphere during the negotiations.

More flexibility for companies in the collective agreements

It should be possible to place the working hours in the right time of day with regard to production and service operations. The collective agreements should also allow for any other arrangements  concerning the working hours that the local parties themselves find reasonable.

The collective agreement determines the minimum wages based on the demands of the work task. The companies decide the part of  salary affected by other elements, such as personal competence and work performance. A shift towards cost effect ideology from the idea of equal raises to all is seen in pay raises – the companies should be able to target the raises in an incentive and just way.

Clarity and flexibility of collective agreements

The current employment legislation guarantees a wide basic security for employees that is complemented by collective agreements at need. Collective agreements are clear legal documents and include exceptions and amendments to the law. The information is not worded in legal terms in the agreements but the members receive plain language information leaflets.

Universally valid labour market practices are set aside in agreements only in exceptional cases – maintenance and application of tailored agreements for each field consumes resources.

The Federation of the Finnish Media Industries is ready to have a dialogue with its negotiation partners for promoting the productivity and competitiveness of the businesses that thereby improves the competence and standard of living of the personnel.Steering tools for the labour market
