Corporate membership in Finnmedia
The Federation of the Finnish Media Industry maintains and develops a collective bargaining system that corresponds to the needs of its members. Promotion of employer policy interests and services related to employer issues are offered only to direct corporate members of the Federation.
Finnmedia negotiates nationwide, universally binding collective agreements for the industry. Based on the Employment Contracts Act, these agreements are also binding to non-companies.
The collective agreements for the Media Industry include a clause for absolute industrial peace, beyond the obligations of the law. The clause forbids all industrial action, even action that is not directed against one’s own agreement, such as sympathy strikes or political strikes. This is significant for information distribution and guarantees uninterrupted operation of corporate members during the agreement period.
The Federation offers assistance and gives advice to its corporate members in all questions related to employment and social legislation and interpretation of collective labour agreements.
