Association members

The Federation of the Finnish Media Industry has six association members:

  • Aikakausmedia
  • Federation of The Printing Industry
  • The Finnish Newspapers Association
  • The Finnish Book Publishers Association
  • The Association of Finnish Broadcasters. RadioMedia
  • The Association of Finnish Televisions.

Aikakausmedia

All major Finnish and foreign publishers of periodicals in Finland are members of  Aikakausmedia.  The association has over 270 publishers who publish 550 periodicals and web publications as its members. The members represent periodicals for the general public, trade journals, organisation magazines and customer magazines.

 

Aikakausmedia improves and secures the operation conditions and produces services and products to support its members. The association safeguards the interests of its members and operates in marketing, research, training and information projects.

Federation of The Printing Industry

Graafinen Teollisuus is an organisation for promoting the business policy interests of book printers  and other businesses in the printing sector.  In addition to safeguarding of interests the association improves the operational conditions, competitiveness, cooperation and know-how of its 180 member companies.

 

The association monitors the development of legislation concerning its member companies and guides its members in the application. The association also organises training for its members and develops vocational training in the business.

The Finnish Newspapers Association

The Finnish Newspapers Association has promoted the interests and cooperation of newspapers and publishers already since 1908. The association has 126 publishers and 37 other companies as members. These publish 194 newspapers. National, provincial, regional and local papers belong to the association.

 

The members of the Finnish Newspapers Association increased at the beginning of 2010 with 33 Free Sheets. They have together 13 publishers.

 

The task of the association is to improve the competitiveness and operational conditions of newspapers and promote the reading of newspapers. In addition to printed papers, digital services are a major area of growth for newspapers. The association publishes the journal “Suomen Lehdistö” (Finnish Press).

The Finnish Book Publishers Association

The Finnish Book Publishers Association is an interest organisation for Finnish book publishers. It was established already in 1858. The Association promotes publishing, dissemination of literature, reading as a hobby and freedom of speech. The association organises training, gives advice to its members and produces statistical data.

 

The 100 member companies of the Finnish Book Publishers Association are responsible for about 90 per cent of the book publishing activity and sales in the country.  The member companies put out more than 7000 book titles every year, half of these are first editions.

The Association of Finnish Broadcasters

The Association of Finnish Broadcasters acts in the interest of private commercial radios.  The association safeguards and strengthens the interests, rights and status of the radio broadcasting operation of its members.

 

The 30 member companies of the association run 54 radio stations on 320 broadcasting frequencies. About 80 per cent of the commercial radios belong to the association.  The members account for more than 90 per cent of the advertisment sales of Finnish radios.

The Association of Finnish Televisions

The Association of Finnish Televisions was established in 1999 to be an interest organisation for commercial television companies.  Its current members are  MTV Oy, Subtv Oy, Sanoma Television Oy, Sanoma Entertainment Oy and Family Channel Oy who comprise all national and commercial broadcasting companies in Finland.

 

The association acts in the interest of its members and their rights, improves the operation conditions for commercial television and promotes cooperation within the business.
